Cordan McDonnell looks to set his opponent up for a takedown in his bout against North Allegheny at the WPIAL team playoffs on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Sophomore Cordan McDonnell is a 145 pounder for the varsity wrestling team and is a diver for the swimming and diving team.

Cordan attends wrestling practice from 3- 4:30 p.m. and then he goes straight to diving practice from 5- 6:30 p.m.

Typically, Cordan has a diving meet on Tuesday and a wrestling match on Wednesday as well as some type of wrestling tournament on the weekend.

Cordan holds a wrestling record of 19-9 this season with 12 of his wins being by pinfall.

Cordan started wrestling in second grade, while he started diving just this year. He joined the diving team because he knew he might have some talent and wanted to try it out.

“It’s a lot of hard work to have to go to both of those and fit in homework, but it is nothing I can’t handle,” Cordan said. “I love both and have big goals I am trying to achieve this year, and throughout my high school career.”

Be sure to keep up with Cordan as his wrestling and diving seasons near individual championships.
