All are welcome to visit the Arts Fest and STEAM Expo on Saturday, May 4 from 1- 4 p.m. at BPHS.

The annual Arts Fest and STEAM Expo is this Saturday, May 4 from 1- 4 p.m. at the high school.

This beautifully painted mural will be on display at the Arts Fest and STEAM Expo.

This is a great opportunity to come and see on display all of the great art created by not only the high school students but also the elementary and middle school students.

“I’m excited to see everyone’s hard work!” senior Zane Antonich said.

There will be a lot of free interactive experiences including silk screening, ceramic wheel demos, live painting demos, button making, face painting, Rubik’s Cube tricks and tips, henna tattoos, 3D printing demos, and a collaborative mural.

The science of cotton candy, family design challenge, NAMS Science Club projects, and Camp Invention, are also some fun activities that are happening!

“I am excited to see all the vendors selling their prize possessions,” junior Alyvia Sohyda said.

Meghan DeHaven, a current senior, is looking forward to the Arts Fest. “I am very excited for the cotton candy and to support my younger brother’s art,” she said.

Ben DeHaven’s faux taxidermy sculpture of SpongeBob Squarepants will be on display at the Arts Fest and STEAM Expo.

Seniors also had the opportunity to create their own display board with all of the art they have created throughout their years at BPHS!

Congratulations to all the seniors!

“I’m excited to see a lot of different people coming to see everyone’s art that they worked so hard on,” senior Vanessa Ovesney said.

Ovesney is very involved in the art program.

“There’s going be an interactive color-by-number mural that anyone can come up to and paint on! There’s also other fun activities there such as a cotton candy machine, henna, and students selling their own work,” Mr Wallisch, art teacher, said.

Camryn Priddy is heading into her senior year with a positive attitude and bright outlook. She is most excited to see in her classes and in the halls her friends whom she missed over the summer. Also, she is stoked to take on the football field as a Bethette in Squad 1. So make sure to keep an eye out for her glowing smile on the field! Her future plans include going to either Slippery Rock or IUP for early education and special education as a dual major, which should be a piece of cake as she retains a 3.5 GPA!  She is also super excited to dive into her extracurriculars again this year, including yearbook, newspaper, literary magazine, and Bethettes. You may also see her keeping busy at her job as a hostess, server, or takeout person at Eat N’ Park. When asked why she decided to work there, she responded, “My two friends already worked there, and also I really needed a job.” When questioned about who keeps her motivated in her busy day-to-day life, she replied, “My mom. She has a lot of confidence and really taught me to be proud of myself.” Which shows just how much she values her family. While getting to know Camryn, you can tell that she brings warmth with her whether it's in her laugh or just the joy in her voice while she talks. When asked what her favorite thing about herself was, she replied, “My hair, because I take good care of it!” If you are ever having a bad day, talk to Camryn; it can be guaranteed that she will brighten up your day just by talking to her.   Written by: Alea Taylor, Staff Writer

Tacey Trypus is a junior who is ready to take on the school year as a Bethette in Squad 3, and she is a proud member of the Newspaper Club. When asked what her future plans are, she said, “I want to own a cat soon. In terms of career, I have no clue. But I’d like to own a cat.” When asked what are you most looking forward to this school year, Tacey said: “To make more friends. Tacey needs more friends, better friends, but I didn't say that, but I did.” So if you are looking for someone with a good sense of humor, Tacey is the friend for you. When questioned with, “What inspires you to be your best self?” she replied: “Being myself, because if I’m myself good things will happen to me. If I’m someone else, good things will happen to someone else. And I want good things to happen to me.” Her favorite color is blue, but it "changes all the time," Tacey said. "I am indecisive, and all colors are pretty in their own way.” Tacey thinks that if she were an animal, she would be a fish because she likes swimming, and some fish are really pretty, and she finds herself very pretty. Her favorite feature about herself is her hair. She says: “I used to hate my hair a ton, but now learning how to do it more, I feel like it's a very close part of me.  I like how it looks sometimes when I know how to do it.” Trypus’s one piece of advice she’d like to leave you with is, “Talk to as many people as you can cause everyone is so different, and everyone has different experiences that you can learn from.” Written by: Alea Taylor, Staff Writer
