Football and track star Luke Surunis is putting down the football and javelin and picking up the rugby ball. Surunis is going to Slippery Rock University this coming fall and hopes to be the school’s top rugby star.

He had a great athletic year. His football year was his most successful due to the most opportunities he was given. He had over 600 rushing yards, over 100 receiving yards, and 11 touchdowns.

He also qualified for WPIALs for track. His longest javelin throw was 155 feet.

Why do you wanna do rugby? Gives me a chance to let off some steam.

What are you going to miss about Bethel? Being with friends every day. High school is more close-knit than college. I’ve known these people since I was little.

Are you excited to go to college? Yes, it’s coming to that time of year when you wanna turn to the new chapter of your life and meet new people.

What do you plan on studying at Slippery Rock? Safety management or special education. I might go in undecided so I can decide.

What are your dorm plans? Man cave vibe for my room– flags, maybe a neon sign.

Do you plan on joining a frat? No, it doesn’t seem to be fun; maybe if it was a bigger college.
