Matthew Szymanowski, Deputy Sports Editor
On the local baseball field or at almost every MLB stadium is where you can find Matt Szymanowski.
Now in his second year at BPHS, Matt is a junior who transferred from Hillcrest Christain Academy his sophomore year.
Matt is usually on the baseball field hitting bombs, cutting grass around his neighborhood, or selling snowcones at Gus and Yiayia’s to bear the last of the heat this year.
Over the summer, Matt won a baseball championship in Bridgeport, W.V. with the South Hills Devil Dogs. Matt had a .357 batting average. Matt also went to Miami to see his 20th MLB stadium out of the 30 there are. While in Florida, he stayed at West Palm Beach to visit family.
When asked why he took Journalism again, he said, “I really enjoyed the class last year and wanted to come back again for more.”
Out of all the interesting superpowers in the world, Matt instantly said, “Invisibility!”
Matt hopes to bring new ideas along with better sports articles throughout the year.
In case you didn’t know, Matt is a huge sports fan. When asked what he’s most excited for about sports in the upcoming year, he said he is most excited for the 2019 World Series. Matt said, “Without a doubt Astros vs Dodgers.”
So to sum up Matt Szymanowski, he’s either in the gym getting big, or hitting bombs on a high school baseball field near you!
