Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger prior to a game.

On Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m, the Steelers kicked off against the Steelers in their home opener in front of a packed house.

That packed house, though, left Heinz Field angry and disgruntled as the Steelers fell to the Seahawks, 28-26.

After a slow start for both teams, the Seahawks had a costly turnover in Steeler territory caused by defensive end TJ Watt. A few plays later, running back James Conner marched in for the Steelers first touchdown of the season.

The Seahawks would respond on the next drive though, as they went down and tied the game at 7.

Before the half ended, Chris Boswell kicked a 41-yard field goal to give the Steelers a 10-7 lead.

The second half was a completely different story.

Ben Roethlisberger did not play the whole second half as he went down with an elbow injury.

Though backup quarterback Mason Rudolph did not play badly, the team seemed demoralized overall.

Following a punt on their first drive in the second half, the Seahawks would score a touchdown on their next three drives while the Steelers could only put up 10 points in that span. During that time, the Steelers also lost star running back James Conner to a knee injury.

The Steelers punted to the Seahawks with just under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. On the Seahawks’ first play, though, Russell Wilson fumbled and rookie linebacker Devin Bush recovered it.

Mason Rudolph found Vance McDonald with 5:30 remaining to put the Steelers back in the game.

Even with the fans rallying behind them, the Steelers would never get the ball back. Russell Wilson marched the Seahawks down and killed the rest of the remaining clock after converting on a 4th and 1.

In the end, the Steelers lost their home opener to the Seattle Seahawks, 28-26.

The Steelers will try to get their first win next week as they travel to San Francisco to play the undefeated 49ers at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.
