Have you ever seen a girl in a purple convertible driving around the streets of Bethel Park? That girl is senior, Krista Vandyke. You may recognize her from her appearances on Blackhawk TV as the weather girl, or from your recent visit to Ruthfred Market, where she works. Well now, you will know her as a Staff Writer from Hawk Eye.
Even though Hawk Eye is the newest addition to her resume of activities, the list is endless! Krista is very involved student here at the high school. She has been awarded for her academic achievement by being a three year member of NHS. She participates in a plethora of community service events, since she is one of Interact’s most active members. But her favorite of them all is Yearbook. Krista loves seeing the whole yearbook come together and seeing “how happy everyone is when they get it!”
When she isn’t busy will all her activities, you can find her just having fun hanging out with her family. Krista has an older brother and younger sister. You might know her younger sister, Heather, who is a freshman here at the high school. She also loves to spend time with her pets! She has a husky, a hermit crab, and a bird.
Like most of us, Krista was indecisive when she had to pick her favorite food. Some of her favorites include: chicken nuggets, Boston crème pie, and honeydew. When asked about her favorite restaurant, without hesitating, she answered, “Definitely Pasta Too!” Krista is also obsessed with the color purple (periwinkle) because it is the color of her eye-catching, flahsy convertible.
This summer, you can find Krista at the pool, mini golfing, and just out in the sun! She loves summer; it is her favorite season! She loves it so much, she has plans to go to college in North Carolina to major in Communications. She said, “I like it there! Everyone is really friendly and really nice. And they have great colleges for communications!”
When asked why she took this class, Krista replied by saying that it will help her in college because of her major. Krista will grow as a reporter in this class, and she will do a fantastic job here at Hawk Eye.
Krista is thrilled and honored to say she is a writer for Hawk Eye this year. She is excited to end her senior year in such a great way. She is very involved, has great grades, and will do great things in the future. So the next time you see Krista driving around in her purple convertible, do not hesitate to stop and wave!
