This Friday, Dec. 12, during the Senior Citizen Christmas luncheon, there will be an interesting surprise on each of the tables! Each table will have a decorative snowman hat centerpiece.

Mrs. Pireaux’s adaptive technical education students are the creative minds behind the projects. The students had a lot of fun making the projects out of recycled materials donated by the cafeteria staff.

The students painted the cans, traced and cut out the cardboard base, and glued them together. Then, with the help of the paras and Mrs. Pireaux, the students added holiday embellishments to give their snowmen a little more flair.

When asked how she came up with such a creative idea, Mrs. Pireaux said, “I get a lot of my ideas on Pinterest. When I found this particular project, I was looking for a project to make out of recycled materials, but I was also looking for a project that the students could take home to their parents for the holidays.”

Through this project, the students were also able to learn the importance of recycling and how their actions affect the environment in addition to practicing fine motor skills.

The cafeteria staff was more than happy to help the students gather cans, and SGA is excited to display them during the luncheon this Friday. The students’ hard work will definitely be appreciated and enjoyed!
