Due to the coronavirus outbreak, schools all around the country have been shut down, including BPHS. Hopefully, this article can help people navigate through some uncertain times.

BPHS families were recently sent out an email letting people know that the School District is in the process of ordering senior lawn signs for the Class of 2020. When the signs arrive, they will be distributed and are meant to symbolize all the hard work and sacrifice the Class has displayed through these unforeseen events.

The Keystone Exams are currently suspended. Senior students will not be required to finish the Project Based Assessment if they are currently enrolled in it. They can choose to complete it if they want to receive the 0.5 elective credit. Senior students must still complete all course work needed to graduate.

All Bethel Park School District facilities are remained closed to the public. The District wants everyone to practice social distancing to try to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Graduation is still scheduled for its original date, Saturday, June 13. Since graduation can’t be in the gymnasium, they are currently planning something to honor the Class of 2020 and recognize every member of the class. Even though the details are not final yet, students will definitely have the chance to receive their diplomas at the high school on June 13.

Before graduation, all seniors need to return any books, Chromebooks, anything that belongs to the school, and pay any outstanding fines. They will also be able to pick up items left at the school. A schedule will be forthcoming.

Prom has been rescheduled for July 21, 2020 at the Omni William Penn Hotel.

Seniors are encouraged to sign the Class of 2020 banner at Aidan Tarr’s house on Slyvania Drive. The goal of the sign is to have every senior sign it.

BPHS students can get a work permit at the high school Monday through Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Athletic Entrance. You have to sign up for a time slot.
