Many come to witness chilly Band Festival
On Friday night, it was 40 degrees, and it was drizzling, but that didn’t stop people flocking from all over Pittsburgh to BPHS.
On the 47th anniversary of the Festival of Marching Bands, many who came were delighted by all the performances.
“It was a great performance,” Mr. Petrossi, head of the Marching band said. “Cold, but great.”
Six marching bands in total performed. They included Belle Vernon (with the “Leopard” program), Quaker Valley (“Pride of Quaker Valley”), Upper St. Clair (“Panthers”), South Park (“Blues”), South Fayette (“Little Green Machine”), and our very own Bethel Park Marching Band (“Pride of Bethel Park”).
In addition, the 9th grade concert band joined the BP Marching Band on the field and played the BP fight songs, “Hot Time” and “Bethel Victory.”
“It was a great learning experience for 9th graders, and I hope it will get them interested in Marching Band later on,” Petrossi said.
Despite the temperatures, the night proved a welcoming environment for great music.
