Fall play cast holds promotional event at library

On Saturday, Nov. 1, the cast of the Bethel Park High School held a promotional party at the Bethel Park library. The event started with a librarian reading the children a Peter Pan picture book with the cast in the room. This was followed by a drawing from a bag of the names of all those in attendance to win tickets to the Saturday matinee performance of the show.

The cast was in costume and performed several scenes from the play for the gathered children. Following that, the cast circulated throughout the group as the children worked on different Peter Pan themed crafts.

The children could work on a pirate sword with the pirate cast members. This was done with a paper cut out, tin foil, and a helping hook from Captain Hook. The group could also work on Peter Pan coloring sheets with the lost boys. The children could take these drawings home or leave them in the library to be displayed.

Another activity was for the children to work with Tinker Bell and make a magic wand with paper, using several different artistic mediums and a stick. The final option was to join cast members in creating bottles of sand and glitter meant to represent Tinker Bell’s fairy dust.

The children and cast participated in these events from 1-3 p.m. at the library. The cast mingled with the assembled group while in costume and interacted with the children. This was another event in a long list that the cast has worked on to increase publicity for the fall play, all in preparation for the show’s debut on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
