Freshmen Hershey Music Trip turns out to be a huge success

On Saturday, May 17, Bethel’s 9th grade orchestra, band, and girls choir headed to Hershey Park to compete in the annual Music In The Parks Competition.

Bethel Freshmen are ecstatic to spend a day not only competing, but being able to spend a whole day in Hershey Park.

The one bad part of the whole thing was the kids had to meet at 4:30 a.m. to get on the bus.

After 4 hours on the bus, it was time for the girls choir to compete.

All of them were very nervous and couldn’t stand still while they were waiting.

Then, it was time to compete. The girls were accompanied by Claire Makowski and sang the songs, “Red Red Rose,” “Musica Dea,” and “You Are My Music.”

As the girls finished all of their songs, everyone from the band and orchestra was impressed with their performance.

Next, it was time to go watch the orchestra and band compete.

The band and orchestra sounded amazing and improved a lot since the beginning of the year.

After competing, the students headed to Hershey Park where they stayed until it was time to go to the awards ceremony.

Bethel’s girls choir got a 1st place excellent, missing superior by .5 of a point. Band got 1st place superior and orchestra got 1st place excellent.

Also, Bethel’s Claire Makowski got an outstanding accompanist award.

Bethel, in the end, also got an award for their politeness. This award was also given to Bethel last year as well.

Bethel’s music students did an awesome job at the competition and deserve all the awards they got.

Great job to all students that participated in The Music in The Parks competition!
