Pennsylvania State Police sends 300 troopers to aid in Baltimore

To assist in the ongoing conflict in Baltimore, the Pennsylvania State Police is sending 300 troopers. The deployment is set to begin later this week and Maryland says that it will reimburse Pennsylvania’s costs.

“Our troopers and emergency personnel are sources of pride for our commonwealth,”  said Governor Tom Wolf in a statement. “Our thoughts will be with them and their families as they help our neighbors in Baltimore during this difficult time. We hope that with their assistance, calm will prevail and the Baltimore community can begin to move forward.”

Acting State Police Commissioner Marcus Brown says that troopers from all parts of the state will go. Coincidentally, Brown was second in command in the Baltimore Police Department and Commander of the Maryland State Police until January of this year.
