PACS prepares for annual trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo

The annual PACS trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo is set to take place on Friday, June 2 and costs $11 per person.

Students were asked to pick up a permission form from Mrs. Daley and return the signed form with the money by Friday, May 26; however, the popular field trip has already filled up to the 120-student limit, and there is now a waiting list for students who still want to sign up.

Although PACS is seen as the host of the trip, Dr. J made it clear that it is a parent’s decision, as they are the ones responsible for transportation and the cost of the trip.

Students are required to report to the main parking lot of the zoo by 9:45 a.m.

“The kids will get out of it what they put into it,” Dr. J said, explaining the many educational opportunities present at the zoo.

PACS historian Nathan Cassano is most excited to see the aquarium and observe the marine organisms.

Students on the trip will also get to see the zoo’s newest exhibit: the Jungle Odyssey. This part of the zoo will bring guests up close to some of the world’s most endangered species, including capybaras, giant anteaters, pygmy hippos, ocelots, and fossas.

The Jungle Odyssey is also set to include a zip line that will open in late June or early July.
