NHL playoff overview

The NHL playoffs are coming up soon. Here is a look at where the bracket stands right now.

Let’s start with the Western Division. If the playoffs started right now, the wildcard spots are taken by the Minnesota Wild and the Winnipeg Jets. The Wild would play second ranked St. Louis and the Jets would play the first ranked Anaheim Ducks.

The Nashville Predators would play the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vancouver Canucks would play the Calgary Flames to finish off the West.

In the East, if the playoffs started right now, the wildcard spots go to Pittsburgh and the Detroit Red Wings. The Pens would play second seed Montreal Canadians and the Red Wings would play the first seed New York Rangers.

To finish off the East, the Tampa Bay Lightning would play the Boston Bruins. The Washington Capitals would play the New York Islanders.

In the wildcard hunt in the East, the Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers are the two closest teams to the playoffs.

In the West, the Los Angeles Kings and Dallas Stars would be the most promising contenders.

You might be asking, How are the Penguins in a wildcard spot? Well the answer is that they have been struggling winning games. This next game is a must win against the Senators.
