Ben Roethlisberger takes a snap during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006.

Ben Roethlisberger has just finished his 17th season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers had a disappointing loss to the Browns in which Ben had four interceptions. Ben is getting old and it may be time for him and the Steelers to move on.

While Steeler Nation would have no problem welcoming Ben back for another season, I think that it may be time to move on. The Steelers are in a division with two teams, the Browns and the Ravens, who both have good, young quarterbacks. If the Steelers don’t try to find a young quarterback soon, then we might fall behind other teams in our division.

Ben led the Steelers to a 12-4 record which won the division for us. This team is based on its great defense and its offense doing what it needs to do to get by.

The Steelers have many players who are becoming free agents this year. While Ben still has one year left on his contract, the Steelers will have to find a way to pay their players to return. This might include trading or finding a way to move Ben and free up some much-needed cap space.

Whether Ben is coming back or not, this offseason will be boom or bust for the Steelers, and one main position they need is a new quarterback.
