It has been an exciting week here at BPHS, as the school is decked out in a variety of different outfits for the spirit week.
On Friday, the varsity football team will take on the Baldwin Highlanders. The Hawks are determined to win since it’s their first section game of the season.
Senior, Captain Jake Brown is ready to win. “This week has to be a great week of work. With conference play starting this week we as a team need to put in a lot of work to get to the level we can achieve,” Brown said.
Senior Nathan Tietz knows what the team needs to do to win.
“We need to come together as a team this week to go 1 and 0 in the conference. It needs to be about playing as a team to win this game,” Tietz stated.
Before the game, we will have the homecoming parade, to showcase our Class of 2024 senior homecoming court nominees.
Those nominees are five girls: Alea Taylor, Kylie Ackerman, Kaitlyn Becker, Essa George, and Lidia Lorenzi, and 5 boys: Dylan Lawton, Zane Antonich, Bryce Clancy, Adam Thompson, and Tommy Smith.
Zane Antonich, who is nominated from Hawk Eye is excited to be a part of the parade.
Zane said, “I think that homecoming court is a really cool opportunity and I’m just generally excited about the whole thing, win or lose!”
Alea Taylor is ecstatic about being on the court. She was nominated for Fall Play.
Taylor said, “It is such an honor that so many people are rooting for me, I’m so excited to be able to stand up in front of the school for our senior class. It just feels like I’m in a Disney movie.”
Congratulations to all of the nominees! The winners will be announced at halftime.
Additionally, the marching band will perform their new halftime show, specially made for homecoming.
The students have been working extremely hard these past weeks to create a great show, in such a short amount of time.
The band Director, Mr. Thompson is super happy with all his students.
He said: “I feel immense pride knowing how hard all of the marching band students have worked to learn new music, drill, and routines for the homecoming game. It takes more than just musicianship and creativity to learn new repertoire during the school year – it takes organization, determination, and concentration. I look forward to debuting the new material on Friday and to improving upon the show as the season progresses.”
Meghan DeHaven, west side Head Bethette, is beyond proud of everyone involved.
“I am very impressed with the appearance and sound of the band, Bethettes, and majorettes for learning the homecoming show in only a few rehearsals,” DeHaven said when asked her opinion on the homecoming show. “I admire everyone for putting in hard work into the show”
The student section theme is USA Night, so show up decked out in red, white, and blue.
The homecoming dance is on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
