The Hawks are sending five wrestlers to the WPIAL Individual Championships after wrapping up the Section Individual Championships on Saturday, Feb. 23. Luke Montgomery (2nd),  Jake Dowell (3rd), Bryson Bench (3rd), Riley O’Mara (4th), and Kevin Collins (5th) all advanced.

Montgomery is the only wrestler out of the five to be seeded heading into the WPIAL tournament, sitting at the sixth seed at 195 pounds.

“This is one of the most exciting times of the year. I am really looking forward to it,” said Montgomery.

Senior Jake Dowell is in his first WPIAL tournament since his prior seasons were unfortunately cut short due to injury, and he is excited about it.

“I’m happy to be healthy at this point in the season and have a chance to go to Hershey,” Dowell said.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the State Championships in Hershey.

The Hawks sent one wrestler to Hershey last season, which was Luke Montgomery’s older brother Jason.

The tournament will be held at Canon-Mac High School on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2. You can keep track of the action and view the brackets on https://arena.flowrestling.org/.
