Cooper Shoemaker GUARDS the hoop.

The boys basketball team came out with tremendous energy Tuesday night in their final section game of the year, defeating Baldwin, 66-55.

They jumped out to an early 23-7 lead and never looked back. 16 first-half points by senior Alex Mullen were a big contributor to the fast start.

“We wanted to come and out and play really hard and do whatever we needed to get this win. We wanted this one bad,” said Mullen after his final section game of his career.

Mullen finished with a team-high 24, Ryan Meis added 15, and Anthony Chiccitt scored 8.

Junior forward Cooper Shoemaker’s six points were a career high.

Looking forward, the Hawks play Obama Academy on Saturday for their “Senior Night” and the final game of the season.

When asked about the emotions coming into this final game, Anthony Chiccitt said, “It’s tough, I feel like it went real quick.”

Quick, very quick, especially for the three seniors on the roster who will play their final game as a Black Hawk on Saturday.

Come support your Hawks on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. as they look to cap the season off with a W.
