There is a lot of school spirit through the halls of BPHS this week, as students participate in homecoming week. With many fun activities going on, everyone is involved in some way.

Last Friday, junior and senior girls kicked off the week with the annual run around for powder puff. All participants came to the school early to decorate and get everyone excited. In between classes, the girls were able to go to the courtyard to cheer for their team. Students felt the rivalry between the junior and senior girls, and had to go the game on Sunday to see who won.

On Sunday night, all the girls were under the stadium lights, ready to play in the game. The bleachers were filled with screaming fans, the captains were giving pep talks, and everyone was ready to see a great game. The seniors led the game, with a final score of 26-6. During half time, the homecoming court was announced, and the crowd participated in an activity to try to win a gift card.

During the school week, students had the opportunity to participate in Spirit Days. Monday was lazy day, Tuesday was tie-dye day, Wednesday was superhero day, Thursday was twin day, and Friday was spirit day. Students and staff wore their favorite outfits to go along with the theme, and many people were very creative. During lunches, students were able to participate in  fun games, and there was music playing to get everyone ready for the weekend.

Friday night will be a fun one for the whole community. There will be a tailgate for everyone in the teacher parking lot at 5 p.m. for the whole community. Following the tailgate will be the annual homecoming parade at 6 p.m. There will be many people in the parade, so come watch students from BPHS in the parade.

After the parade, come to the football game, where the Hawks will take on the Chartiers Valley Colts. During half time, the marching band will perform and the homecoming court will be announced, so do not miss out on this intense game.

Saturday night is the night everyone has been waiting for, the homecoming dance. It will be from 7 p.m.-10:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. The theme is “Around the World.” The dance is organized by SGA, and the heads are Athena Kalogeris and Matea Pranjic.

When asked what to look for at the homecoming dance, Kalogeris said, “This year, we are having another laser show. And it is bigger and better and more elaborate.”

Pranjic said, “Just look for the decorations. There’s a lot of hard work into them. The people we had on dance and decorations are really creative, and you can see that when you walk into the dance.”

This week is one that a plethora of students have been looking forward to, and one that everyone enjoys. So do not miss out on these entertaining activities, and participate in homecoming week!
