Student Musician of the Week: Tyler Petrossi

Sophomore Tyler Petrossi plays the piano and has been singing and playing drums since the age of six.

Inside of school, he is involved in symphonic band, marching band, drumline, percussion ensemble, Top 21, concert choir, music technology, musical, and Telerama.

Tyler is also a part of the Pittsburgh CLO Academy and was previously a member of the CLO mini stars.

Beyond high school, he said, “I am looking for music to be my career in the future. I would like to be a performer and work with music technology to compose music for myself, others, movies, and video games.”

However, Tyler’s ideal future with music would be a career performing on stage and entertaining audiences.

Petrossi received a first place ranking in the Men’s Musical Theater Competition at Slippery Rock University and was a runner-up for the American Idol experience. He was also selected for PMEA District Chorus, Region Chorus, and Jr. High District Band.

When asked where he gets his inspiration, he said, “There are many different artists that inspired my music style, including: Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Michael Jackson, Panic, and many more.”
