Pittsburgh opens its season on Sept. 7 with a Week 1 matchup away against the New York Jets at 1 p.m.
This game will act as an early challenge, especially because of the possibility that former New York Jet Aaron Rogers could be Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback heading into Week 1.
Three weeks later, following the revenge game of DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh heads to Ireland for a game against the Minnesota Vikings, a rare international game that adds a unique twist to their schedule.
Following a bye in Week 5, Pittsburgh faces divisional rivals in the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, with the latter scheduled for prime time on Oct. 16.
The middle of the season features a mix of home and away games against NFC teams like the Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, and Chicago Bears.
As well, Pittsburgh has big AFC matchups ahead against the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and Detroit Lions, all formidable teams in their own right.
The regular season will come to an end very similar to the 2024-25 NFL season, as Pittsburgh once again will meet the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 4.
While the schedule provides clarity on dates and opponents, much remains uncertain for Pittsburgh.
The departure of key players like Najee Harris and George Pickens leaves questions about how the team’s offense will look once the season begins.
While some may debate it, Harris was a key piece of Pittsbugh’s run game, and replacing his production will be a priority.
Similarly, Pickens’ ability to stretch the field and create explosive plays will be hard to replace overnight, even with their off-season signings.
Adding to the intrigue is the uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers. If he signs with Pittsburgh, it could change their offensive strategy, judging from Rogers’ controversial stint with the New York Jets.
Even though the veteran’s leadership and playmaking ability are in question following recent seasons, Rogers could be the missing piece of the team’s offense.
If Rodgers chooses another destination or the deal falls through, Pittsburgh will be forced to rely on a returning Mason Rudolph, or their 5th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Will Howard, which could impact their offensive strategy.
The team’s future will depend on how well they adapt to roster changes, the outcome of the Rodgers saga, and their draft pick’s ability to reach their full potential.
Fans will be watching closely as Pittsburgh looks to navigate a challenging schedule and contend in the playoffs with many uncertainties ahead.
