Tori Krapp wins the draw during the girls lacrosse game against Latrobe on April 6, 2021.

The Lady Hawks got their third straight win of the season on Tuesday night. After dominating their first two opponents, Moon and Canon Mac, by a combined score 27-10, the Lady Hawks kept the double digits going with a huge 17-4 victory over Latrobe.

“All of our games so far have been close, at least to start and to see the way that players and different units on the field give and receive feedback and suggestions–it’s a point of pride for me as a coach,” said head coach Becky Luzier. “I want them to have ownership, to have autonomy, and feel empowered to make decisions based on what they’re seeing and it’s great to see that playing out game after game right now.”

The starting goalie for the game was senior Sydney Kosko.

Starting on defense were junior Katherine Tena and seniors Chloe McDaniel, Megan Cunningham, and Kaitlyn Wiard.

On the attacking end, the starters were juniors Corinne Hewes, Meghan Krapp, Carley O’Mara, and Amanda Lincoln.

The starting midfielders for the Lady Hawks were seniors Tori Krapp, Riley Miller, and Caitlyn Schultz.

At halftime, the Hawks lead 10-3.

“We are coming together on both sides of the field and as a team, we are working better together,” said junior captain Carley O’Mara. “We have a long way to go, but every day we are improving.”

The 17 goals on the team were scored by seven different players.

Senior Tori Krapp dominated the score with six goals, while junior Carley O’Mara scored five, sophomore Averie Moul had two goals, and seniors Riley Miller and Maddy Walters, junior Meghan Krapp, and freshman Emma Moore each scored one goal.

“I’ve been pleased with the improvements we have shown each game but this group is incredibly skilled, so that’s to be expected,” said head coach Becky Luzier. “It’s the continued improvement in their poise and individual player leadership that has me most excited and just confirms my belief that this really is the season this group has been working towards over the last few years.”

The Hawks have a three-game week starting with their third section game away against Allderdice on Tuesday, April 5 at 3:15 p.m. On Wednesday, the Lady Hawks face Hempfield at home at 5:30 p.m. and Sewickley Academy away at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
