Mia Gorman strikes twice and wins 2nd WPIAL gold

Mia Gorman is the 2021 WPIAL girls tennis champion. She defeated Kat Wang of Peters Township in the finals.

A week after Mia Gorman defeated Kat Wang of Peters Township in the section finals, the two met again, this time in the WPIAL finals with a similar result.

After 6-2 and 6-1 wins, Gorman once again captured a WPIAL title and qualified for the PIAA Tournament on November 5-6.

Mia Gorman showed great perseverance and resolve, bringing the senior her second WPIAL gold.

“It is very exciting to win, although a challenge. It was the best match since mid-summer,” she said.

Her opponents were very good athletes and possessed great sportsmanship.

Mia says the win was worth it in the end, having a satisfying playstyle and win.

She is committed to continuing tennis at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

She has kept her respectful title and shows amazing school spirit.

Mia has a month to prepare for the state competition.
