As extreme wildfires continue to spread throughout Australia and now Southern California, firefighters need to find new ways to approach controlling fires.
One new and inventive way to put out the fires damaging acres of natural land could be to utilize drone flying technology equipped with cameras and thermal technology.
Thermal cameras could help pinpoint critical areas of the wildfires and even heat epicenters within forests.
Drones provide real-time aerial surveillance, allowing firefighters to monitor the spread and intensity of the fire from a distance. This ability for surveillance helps in strategizing the best approach to contain and extinguish flames.
Drones also uncover heat signatures from humans, making them easier to discover and rescue in crowded areas. These heat signatures also allow for supplies to be brought directly to residents by drones, as drones can carry water, fire retardants, and medical supplies.
However, these drones also come with drawbacks, like potentially disturbing wildlife in the area.
One must properly analyze these costs and compare them to the costs if no action is taken.
There may not be anything that can be done to help the situation as it is right now, but taking the proper environmental measures could help to reduce the rapid effects of global warming.
