Coming into the last week of section play, the Lady Hawks were tied with the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils.  Each needed the other team to lose or would share the section as “co-champions.”

This past Thursday, Feb. 6, the Lady Hawks took on the Baldwin Highlanders on Senior Night. Also, while the Lady Hawks were playing, the Blue Devils were matched up against the Upper St. Clair Panthers.

The Lady Hawks ended up overcoming the Highlanders with a score of 58-49.  Also, with fortune in the Hawks’ favor, Mt. Lebanon lost to the Panthers 53-40, losing their chance of being co-section champions.

It was a really fun game! I am so grateful to be a part of our team and I am so proud of everyone! I can’t wait for the rest of the season!

Maddie Dziezgowski, Trib Player of the Week, had a very big game leading the Hawks with 28 points.

“It was a really fun game! I am so grateful to be a part of our team and I am so proud of everyone! I can’t wait for the rest of the season!”

Lauren Mullen added 13 points to the big Senior Night.

“It was a special night for sure.  I’m glad our team could share that moment together for our last time playing on our floor.”

Junior Liv Westphal also notched 13 points and four fouls.

“We moved the ball very well as a team and I was very glad we pulled out the win.”

In addition to Senior Night, Coach Jonna Burke was recognized for her 25th season of coaching.

The playoff committee will be coming out with the playoff seedings and pairings this Tuesday, Feb. 11.

The Lady Hawks will be taking on the North Catholic Trojanettes Monday night in their final game of the regular season at 6 p.m., hoping to improve their record to 20-1 before the playoffs.
