Ryan Tischler, Rebecca Libell, and Chris Garland looking ominous at the beginning of outdoor track season.

On Tuesday, March 26, the outdoor track and field team will kick off their season with a meet against Canon-Mac and Peters Township at Peters Township High School at 3 p.m.

The track team is welcoming some new coaches this season as well. Hawk Eye leader himself, Mr. Allemang, will be coaching the hurdlers. Also, Mr. Metheny is the new jumping coach.

“Coaching hurdles is a new experience for me since my area of specialty is long distance running, but I am learning and having fun coaching,” said Mr. Allemang.

The track team had their first scrimmage against West Mifflin two weeks ago and performed quite well.

The distance team will be a force to be reckoned with, having all-star Emily Carter on the team. Carter recently competed at nationals for indoor track and field.

Last year at the WPIAL Championships, thrower Mike Conaboy medaled in the shot put, pole vaulter Rebecca Libell medaled and qualified for states, and thrower Sarah Gilliam medaled in both shot put and discus and also qualified for states in shot put.

Good luck to the co-ed track team this season, and good luck to Mr. Allemang!
