Pens battle Blue Jackets Thursday night in Pittsburgh

After an impressive 3-2 overtime win against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, the 5X time Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins will face off against the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.

The Blue Jackets just finished up an away game against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, Mar. 5 in which the Devils won in a shoot-out by the score of 2-1; and now Columbus begins a home-at-home with a match-up against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh on Thursday, Mar. 7 and a rematch against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Columbus on Saturday, Mar. 9.

The Blue Jackets are now 37-26-3 and are in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division.

The Penguins are just finishing up a brief two-game homestand that began with a 3-2 overtime win against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, Mar. 5; and now the Penguins begin a home-at-home with Columbus in Pittsburgh on Thursday, Mar. 7 and a rematch against the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Saturday, Mar. 9.

The Penguins are now 35-22-9 are tied for third place with Carolina Hurricanes in points (79).

When Thursday night comes around, the Penguins and Blue Jackets will meet for the third time this season. These two teams last played in Columbus on Feb. 26, in which Pittsburgh won that game by the score of 5-2.

Even though the Penguins still have injuries to Olli Maatta, Kris Letang, Bryan Rust, and Chad Ruhwedel, it should be an entertaining game in Pittsburgh as the Pens look for their third consecutive win and inch closer to winning the greatest trophy in all of sports, the STANLEY CUP.
