Lady Hawks battle to the end, but pull off win

On Thursday, Jan. 10, the Lady Hawks defeated section-rival Canon-Mac, 42-38, in a tight game. The Hawks are now 5-1 in their section with their only loss coming from the hands of Peters.

The Lady Hawks struggled this game to put the ball in the net. After the first half of play, both teams were tied 22-22.

In the 3rd quarter, the Big Macs outscored the Hawks 11-6 and they took the lead.

Quickly in the 4th quarter, the Hawks went on a run. With around 50 seconds left, Olivia Westphal hit a big 3-pointer to put the Hawks up by two. While the clock was running down, Maria Cerro hit three key foul shots to secure the game.

Thursday night’s high scorers were sophomore guard Olivia Westphal with 14 and senior guard Maria Cerro.

“I’m glad we could put off this big section win,” said Junior guard Lauren Mullen.

Your Lady Hawks are back in action on Monday, Jan. 14 against the Baldwin Highlanders (2-4). This game will be played at The Nest at 7:30 p.m. This is another big section matchup! Come out and support the Hawks!
