Pens clash with Caps Wednesday night in DC

After a disappointing 4-2 loss against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night, the 5X time Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins face off against the Washington Capitals Wednesday night at Capital One Arena at 8 p.m. in Washington, DC.

After the Pens battle the Caps, the Pens will be on the tail-end of back-to-back games with a road game against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night and a home game against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. The Penguins are now 15-12-6 and are in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division.

The Washington Capitals are finishing up a three-game home stand that started with a 4-3 shootout win against the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday night, continues with a a rivalry showdown with the Penguins on Wednesday night, and ends with a rematch with the Buffalo Sabers on Friday night.

After the Capitals battle the Pens, the Capitals will be on the tail-end of back-to-back games with a rematch with the Buffalo Sabers on Friday night and a road game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night. The Capitals are now 20-9-3 and are in first place in the Metropolitan Division.

The Penguins just finished up a three-game home stand that started with a 5-3 win against the Boston Bruins on Friday night, a 4-3 overtime win against the LA Kings on Saturday night, and a 4-2 loss against the Anaheim ducks onĀ  Monday night.

When Wednesday comes around, the Pens and the Caps will meet for the third time this season, they will play each other one more time in Pittsburgh on March 12 at 7 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena.
