IN UNITY, the Varsity, Junior High, and rec wrestlers break it out after a Tyler Nauman wrestling clinic.

The wrestling team is ready for the fresh season. Under new head coach Tim Crawford and assistant coach Mark Eckley, the Hawks are poised for a run.

Last season, the Hawks graduated four seniors: Hunter Kernan, Ben Yantek, Noah Seeberger, and Jason Montgomery. Kernan is beginning his redshirt freshman year wrestling at the University of Pittsburgh while Montgomery is wrestling at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Hawks sent seven wrestlers to WPIALs last year and one to the PIAA tournament. Jason Montgomery, the lone PIAA qualifier, lost in the placing round. The year before, he placed 7th. Noah Seeberger lost in overtime at WPIALs, falling just short of qualifying for states.

This year, the Hawks come in with a full lineup for the first time in a while. They start their season at the Eastern Area Tournament at Gateway this Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8.

The other tournaments they will wrestle in include: Moon Duals (12/15), Southmoreland Classic (12/27 & 12/28), Burgettstown Tournament (1/11 & 1/12), and the Allegheny County Tournament (1/18 & 1/19).

The Hawks have three home matches this year. The first is against USC on Wednesday, Dec. 12; the second is against Baldwin on Wednesday, Jan. 2; and the third is against North Allegheny on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

The Hawks are looking forward to a great season with some new faces tagging along the way.
