The Lady Hawks celebrate their efforts during their game against Penn Trafford on Thursday, Sept. 7. The girls won 3-1.

The girls’ varsity volleyball team has another win under their belt. This time, the Penn Trafford Warriors fell to them in a non-section match on Thursday, Sept. 7.

“Looking back on Tuesday’s match to tonight, I would say we really focused in on a few key aspects of our game,” said senior middle hitter Jenna Kwiatkoski. “Our blocking, covering, and serving consistency was much better today, and it is great to see us carry over that focus from practice.”

The Lady Hawks won 3-1 with scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, and 25-22. Junior outside hitter Brenna Manko led the team in kills, with 11, followed by Kwiatkoski (9). Senior rightside hitter Emma Stuebgen led the team in aces, rallying up a total of 4.

Both JV and varsity finish the first week of play with a perfect 2-0 record. Next week, the girls take on two huge section matches against Peters Township, on Tuesday, and Upper St. Clair, on Thursday. Both games are home, so come out and support the volleyball team!
