Students across the Bethel Park School District are coming together to make a positive impact in their community through the SHIM sock drive.
Led by Andrew Baram, Courtney Macurak, James Guffey, and Seth Dubin, SHIM is a group whose mission is to create programs that assist our neighbors in further growing the community.
SHIM prioritizes assisting others, community building, and equity.
This initiative involves multiple organizations that look to provide warmth and comfort to families in need during the season.
Groups involved in the sock drive include:
- DECA
- Environmental Club
- Interact Club
- National Honor Society
- STAND
- Student Government Association
The groups are collecting new, packaged socks of all sizes and lengths, whether individually wrapped or in packs.
Members of the community are encouraged to contribute, with donations accepted until January 23 at various locations.
The following schools are all participating in the sock drive:
- Abraham Lincoln Elementary School
- BPHS
- George Washington Elementary School
- IMS
- Memorial Elementary School
- Neil Armstrong Middle School
- William Penn Elementary School
Every pair of socks donated will go directly to SHIM after being dropped off.
Together, this act of kindness demonstrates how even small gestures, like donating socks, can make a large difference in the lives of others.
