It’s that time of year again.
Applications for colleges are open for early decision, recruiters are out and about for the next rising student-athletes, and counselors are sending out transcripts. If you’re a senior, you should have already been making the first few steps in your college career.
But what happens if you haven’t?
That’s okay! Many other students don’t know what they want to major in or where they want to spend the next four years of their academics. If not, Bethel Park is welcoming back the biggest academic event of the year, the College & Career Fair!
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the school will be hosting nearly 150 different colleges and trade schools on campus. This is open to all students in grades 9-12 and their parents/guardians. It will be hosted from 6-8:30 p.m. at our very own BPHS.
This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to find their spot in college or who are just eager to get ahead for their upcoming senior year. Go and explore your options! You can talk with representatives who will be at their designated college stand; they can answer your questions about admissions, student life, and why that college best suits you.
“I went one year when they had it, and it genuinely was a really good experience that I would suggest that everyone takes the time to go to,” a Bethel Park junior, Maddy Hucko, said about the fair.
Last year, the event sold out all the tables, which is the first time it has ever happened. Colleges really show up and show out for the students around the Bethel Park area. Some of the top colleges in the country will be in attendance: Penn State University, Texas A&M University, Syracuse University, the University of Alabama, and many more.
“Events like this can be eye-opening and start students down a road that will be very important to their future,” said Mr. Michael Bruce, a counselor at BPHS who is a big advisor of the college process.
Having a point of contact with these colleges can really benefit you in the future, already getting ahead of the thousands of students who are looking to claim the same spot in the 2026-2027 academic season.
This event is completely free as well – the only thing needed is registration, which can be accessed here. You can also scan the QR code in the flyer above. Claim your spot now! More information on the event will be sent out via email or through the weekly bulletin of Hawk News.
Having this opportunity to branch out and find out what’s the best fit for you is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted, so sign up, go, and find your home for your college career!
