The BPHS Chapter of Quill & Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists celebrated its annual ceremony on June 3, inducting its Class of 2025.
Established in 1947, the Bethel Park Chapter has long recognized and celebrated achievements in student journalism.
The induction into Quill & Scroll is a prestigious honor, reserved for students who have had outstanding performances in media and literary arts.
This year’s induction ceremony was a proud milestone, welcoming 12 students who have demonstrated dedication, talent, and leadership across their respective activities.
Members of Quill and Scroll meet the following requirements:
- They must be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior
- They must have an average grade of a B, or be in the upper third of their class scholastic standing, either for the year of their election or for the total of all high school work
- They must have done impressive work in some area of journalism or school media
- They may be staff of a magazine, newspaper, yearbook, news organization, online site, or a radio/television station at the school
- They must be recommended by the supervisor or by the committee in charge of the media.
- They must be approved by the Quill and Scroll Associate Director
The new inductees represent the best of BPHS’s journalism programs, including staff members from the Hawk Eye Newspaper, Beacon Yearbook, Black Hawk TV, and Vernissage Literary Magazine.
The following are the inductees for the 2025 Quill & Scroll BPHS Class:
- Black Hawk TV: Linus Truver, Madison Rudolph, Rodan Hassan, and Tristan Shay have made notable contributions to media production while demonstrating creativity in broadcasting and video projects.
- Hawk Eye Newspaper and Beacon Yearbook: Alexandra Thunborg, Haley Uselman, Megan Gaskill, and Patrick Romito have stood out through their work in journalism and publication, showcasing storytelling, editing, and production skills.
- Vernissage Literary Magazine: Camren Reynolds, Finn O’Neill, Jacob Pitoniak, and Leah Frank have shown they are talented writers by sharing poems, short stories, and other pieces that spotlight their artistic side.
These students have not only succeeded academically but have also shown a passion and love for storytelling, qualities that will serve well for their future endeavors.
As these inductees move forward in their academic and professional careers, they carry with them the legacy of Quill & Scroll upheld by the BPHS community.
