BPHS gets ready for Valentine’s Day spirit week

Spirit Week is Feb. 10- 14. Students and staff are encouraged to participate in the themed dress-up days.

As January ends, BPHS is excited to announce a fun-filled week of activities and events that will bring the community together.

Wish Week will take place from Feb. 3- Feb. 7 and acts as a great opportunity for the staff and students to positively impact our school and beyond.

During Wish Week, students and staff can submit wishes, also known as “Good Wishes” that benefit others.

To participate, a Google form will be sent out on Feb. 3, wherein students can submit their wishes.

It encourages everyone to think creatively and come up with ways to make a positive difference in our school and community.

Good Wishes are wishes that benefit others, so think about ways to make someone’s day brighter, help a friend or classmate in need, or give back to our community.

Following Wish Week, BPHS will have its Spirit Assembly on the morning of Friday, Feb. 7, where school spirit and community will be celebrated.

The real fun, however, begins during Spirit Week, which will take place from Feb. 10- Feb. 14. Each day has a unique theme, so be sure to dress up and participate in the fun. The themes will be listed below:

Monday, Feb. 10- On the hunt for a Valentine (Camo Day)
Tuesday, Feb. 11- We make the perfect pair! (Twin Day)
Wednesday, Feb. 12- Dreaming for love (PJ Day)
Thursday, Feb. 13- You’re a great FIT “ness” for me (Athletic Clothing)
Friday, Feb. 14- All you need is love! (Wear Red and Pink)

BPHS students should also make sure to mark down their calendars for the Snowball Dance, which will be held on Friday, March 7 from 7 p.m.- 10 p.m.

The Class of 2026 is hosting this event, and tickets will be available online for $10 each. Stay tuned for more information on ticket sales and get ready to dance the night away!

BPHS is excited to see what Wish Week and Spirit Week bring to the school, and they hope students are as excited as they are to make some unforgettable memories together!

And that’s another Bethel Park Black Hawks win for the boys soccer team. Whether Patrick is on the soccer field or behind the keyboard, he’s always aiming to make an impact—one play and one story at a time. This year, Patrick Romito, an 11th grader, joins Scholastic Publications for the first time. When asked why he decided to sign up, Patrick said, “I took the class to get more involved in school activities.” With a clear passion for making the most of his high school experience, Patrick is eager to contribute to the class by writing articles for the Hawk Eye newspaper. He’s ready to take on whatever stories come his way, whether spotlight features, sports, or school news. Patrick is not just a writer; he’s also an accomplished athlete. With 12 years of soccer experience under his belt and as a three-year DECA member, he balances both extracurriculars and academics with ease. As someone who enjoys variety, he’s equally open to different kinds of stories, saying, “I enjoy writing in general, so whether it’s spotlights, sports, or school news-related content, it doesn’t matter to me.” Looking ahead, Patrick’s plans after high school include studying marketing and advertising, although he’s still deciding on a specific college. In the meantime, his favorite class is Law & You with Mr. Vic. He appreciates how the course prepares him for life after high school, and he enjoys Mr. Vic’s real-life stories that make each lesson engaging. Reflecting on his time in high school, Patrick recalls the excitement of attending football games as a freshman, where he formed friendships that have lasted throughout his high school years. “I really enjoyed going to the football games freshman year because I ended up making a lot of friends there, a lot of which I’m still friends with today,” he said. Outside of school, Patrick has worked as a lifeguard at Highpoint Fitness for almost two years, a job that highlights his dedication and work ethic. When he’s not working or playing soccer, he enjoys comedy movies, with Step Brothers being his top pick. And what’s his dream vacation? Patrick hopes to one day visit Italy. “My dream vacation is Italy because first, it is very beautiful there, as well as my family roots going back to there,” he shared. In just three words, Patrick describes himself as calm, caring, and hardworking — qualities that are sure to serve him well both in and out of the classroom. Alexandra Thunborg, Staff Writer

Whenever you think of putting a bag on someone's head, think of Alexandra Thunborg, as Nina, in this year's Fall Play! Alexandra Thunborg is a senior and a new member of the Hawk Eye staff. When asked about why she joined, she explained, "My friend recommended it to me, and I'm interested in writing newspaper articles." Alexandra's favorite topic to write about for the newspaper is stories about the school and upcoming events the school has planned, whether it is about the German Club or Fall Play. Besides writing articles for Hawk Eye, Alexandra can be seen snapping photos of students for the yearbook around the school. Speaking of Fall Play, this is Alexandra's first year performing in "The Day The Internet Died," as Nina-- a very hyper social media user who cannot handle not having access to Instagram! One fun fact about Alexandra is that she is pescatarian, which means the only meat she eats is fish! Alexandra is a big fan of Sabrina Carpenter, with her two favorite songs "Coincidence" and "Good Graces." Alexandra enjoys these two songs because of the catchy lyrics and unique sound of Carpenter's music genius. After high school, Alexandra plans to go to Mercyhurst University to study Criminal Justice.
