DECA finalists pose for a pic at the State Conference.

This past weekend, BP DECA students won big at the State Conference in Hershey, PA.

The students who qualified at States will move on to Nationals in Orlando, Florida.

The students who qualified for Nationals include seniors Tyler Andreis, Lauryn Fusca, Samantha Huwe, Brenna Manko and Emily Kraska; juniors Mark Vighetti Caleb Shook, Marissa Christenson, Josh Capristo, Gabby Hegedus, Jenna Chernicky, Sarah Gilliam, Alyssa Shoulder and Rainy Swogger; and sophomores Julia Casaldi, Amber Simeone, Makayla Yee, Morgan Beardsley, Lauren Caye, Lianna Robbins, Nick Massari, and Ryan Puskar.

Mark Vighetti was installed as the 2019-2020 PA DECA State Officer. He will serve as the PA DECA District 3 Rep.

Vighetti had this to say about getting a perfect score on his project (Buying & Merchandising Operations Research): “When you’re up there on stage it’s so in the moment, it’s crazy. Getting 1st is so scary as you’re the last to be announced. 4th, 3rd, 2nd. You’re hoping you don’t get 5th or 6th. It was just so genuine. You feel so relieved and accomplished and proud to represent your chapter as they go crazy in their seats. It’s really a great feeling.”

There were 36 finalists, and 21 of those students qualified for Nationals. The winners have the option of going to Universal Studios or Downtown Disney.

The winners will fly out to Orlando on April 26 and come back home May 1.

Congratulations and good luck to all the students who qualified!
