Currently, WPXI is in its 6th week of a contest called Skylights Band of the Week that they host annually. The news station wants to see who is the best high school marching band in the region.

The voting opened Monday, Oct. 1 at noon and ends Friday, Oct. 5 at noon. There can only be one vote per hour per person for the contest.

If BPHS wins, there will be a feature on WPXI’s Skylights segment of the Channel 11 News. Right now, Bethel Park is in fourth place with around 900 votes behind North Catholic (third place), Chartiers Valley (second place), and Elizabeth Forward (first place).

So go and vote for the pride of Bethel Park… the marching band!

About the Writer
Sarah Pellis, Copy Editor, Deputy Features Editor

Sarah Pellis is an outgoing BPHS senior who is a first-time reporter for the Hawk Eye news team.

Sarah is very involved in activities around the high school, such as fall play, spring musical, and Top 21.  She is also very involved in PACS, Drama Club, SGA, and Ways n’ Means.

Sarah dreams of attending Penn State or the University of Maryland and majoring in journalism.  She wants to make a career in New York writing for a magazine or become a travel writer.  She wants to tell the people’s side of the story.  However, for now, she is hoping to bring something different to the Hawk Eye news team.

Sarah’s dream vacation would be traveling around Europe and visiting countries such as Italy and France.  Sarah was a part of the school trip to France this summer and would love to go back and explore more of Paris and other regions.  Also, if Sarah were to have a superpower, she would choose to have invisibility as a way to have time for herself.

We’re very excited to see what Sarah will bring Hawk Eye this year!  Good luck, Sarah!
