The Marching Band performs their pregame show on Sept. 1 before the Hawks’ game against NA.

Get ready, Marching Band fans. The Bethel Park Black Hawks Marching Band is gearing up for one more performance! This time, though, it’s at Heinz Field. That’s right: On Sunday, Dec. 10 at 8:30 p.m., the band will be performing at the Steelers’ game against the Baltimore Ravens! What songs can fans expect to hear the band play? Additionally, how many performances will occur throughout? The answers to these questions, and more, are as follows…

This opportunity is a rare one. What makes it extra special is the fact that Bethel’s band was asked to play not only their pregame show, but their halftime performance, as well. Typically, a high school will only play one of the two. So, when the chance to appear at Heinz Field presented itself, the marching band directors were pleased to accept.

What songs will the BP MB be playing? Due to a slightly shorter performance time than compared to most high school football games, the band’s two shows will be somewhat modified. More specifically, their pregame performance will consist of a single song, “Veteran’s Salute,” which highlights the theme songs of all 5 U.S. military branches.

Their halftime show will be a bit longer, though. In it, the band will play “Karn Evil 9” (this year’s opening song), “All Along the Watchtower,” and, of course, “Hot Time” and its counterpart, “Bethel Victory.”

But that’s not all! A third performance will take place on Sunday before the football game even starts! Around 5:30 p.m., the band can be found on Art Rooney Avenue, just outside of Heinz Field, where they’ll do a mixture of standstill and forward march performing.

Overall, members of the Bethel Park Black Hawk Marching Band are thankful, prepared, and all around excited for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They’re grateful for all of their supporters, and can’t wait to perform with passion and with pride.
