On Wednesday, Nov. 11, students and staff wore red, white, and blue in honor of Veterans Day.

Members of the BPHS community whose family members are currently serving or have served in the military in the past respected students for supporting this cause.

Sophomore Alexandra Turner said: “My dad is a part of the Marine Corps Reserves and was a part of the Marines until 2002. I appreciate Dr. J having a moment of silence and students for wearing red, white, and blue to honor my dad and those who have served along with him.”

Veterans Day falls on November 11th because it is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended WWI hostilities in 1918. It was known as Armistice Day until 1954, when it was changed to honor veterans of WWII as well. Today the holiday honors all those who have served.
