Senior night against Peters Township

The Class of 2015 played their last play, cheered their last cheer, and marched their final performance at a home football game at Black Hawk Stadium on Friday night. It was the last time senior fans were able to sit in the student section to cheer on their favorite football team. It was a night the senior class will never forget.

Senior football players and cheerleaders kicked off the night as the Black Hawks played the Peters Township Indians. Their parents met them on the field, and they lined up for their final recognition. They talked about their future plans and memories. Then, the band performed their pregame show as the cheerleaders came onto the field and everyone cheered for the football team as they ran onto the field.

The Hawks took the lead from the beginning, with a touchdown from senior Alex Minton. At the half, the Hawks were winning, 27-0.

The “Black Hawk” marching band performed their halftime show, and the seniors were recognized. Then, the drumline performed their feature.

After the half, the game continued. The fans were so excited. This was a game that the seniors wanted to win, and the team pulled through with a victory. The final score was 41-14.

The football team came over to celebrate with the band once the game was over. The cheerleaders lined up and cheered for the team as they ran off of the field. For the seniors, this was possibly the last time that they were able to share these memories on the field.

One person who marched on the field with the band for the final time was the Head Bethette, Carolyn Hancock. When asked what her favorite part of being in the Marching Band was, she said, “It’s a great time and you get to make a lot of new friends throughout the years”.

When asked what she would miss most about being in the Marching Band, Hancock said, “I will miss the excitement and playing/ dancing of “Hot Time and Bethel Victory” after the team would score a touchdown”.

Being under the Friday night lights is something anyone can be a part of. Whether it is as a football player, a band member, a cheerleader, or a fan, it is a time that all of BPHS can come together, and Friday night was a memorable night for the seniors as they cherished these memories for the last time.
