Male teen becomes first ever CoverBoy

Easy, brezzy, beautiful: CoverBoy.

For years, CoverGirl has been successfully supplying makeup to people all around the world. And the people that help endorse those products are celebrity CoverGirls such as Katy Perry, Pink, and Zendaya.

But in October, a 17-year-old YouTuber and Instagramer James Charles became the first ever male face for CoverGirl.

James Charles started his makeup career on YouTube in December 2015 which consisted of makeup tutorials. Then after each tutorial, he would post a picture of the finished look on his Instagram.

After a couple years of doing the same routine of posting images and videos, he became getting more and more attention on his social media accounts.

Last month, when he posted his senior pictures, Charles started to receive the attention from the staff of CoverGirl. And by being noticed, that landed him a spot on the CoverGirl makeup team as the male ambassador for the company’s first universal mascara.

After getting named CoverGirl 2016, Charles began expressing his gratitude to multiple talk shows.

Charles told Teen Vogue, “This has been the coolest experience of my life and I am so honored and thankful to be able to start this new era of CoverGirl! I hope to inspire others to be confident in their own skin and to love themselves with makeup or without.”

Since James is a male in the makeup scene, he is sure to get negative and positive feedback for breaking boundaries and spreading diversity.

But with confidence,  Charles told abcnews, “I feel happy and I feel confident, and I have a lot more people supporting me than don’t, and at the end of the day, that’s what matters.”
