On April 21, Prince Roger Nelson passed away at age 57 in his Minnesota estate. The musician was found unresponsive in an elevator of his home- the first responders attempted to revive the musician; however, the first responders were never able to restart the music icon’s heart.

Fans of the music legend flocked to his home just hours later, inconsolable and in mourning to pay their respects to the icon.

Prince was born Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Musicians John L. Nelson and Mattie Shaw. Prince was named after the Band his father played in, The Prince Rogers Trio.

As a child, Prince would be musically talented and even go as far as forming a band in high school known as the Grand Central with fellow students Morris Day and Andre Anderson who would later be known as Andre Cymone.

But due to a nasty dispute in the 1980s which would later lead to Prince’s 1980s album, Dirty Mind, the band went their separate ways.

From this point on, Prince rocked the music community with multiple hits such as Controversy and 1999 which would cement him in the music world as a legend for his sexual but religious twist he gave to his music. Prince would also be the cause of Tipper Gore pushing for graphic warnings labels for music that was deemed inappropriate for young audiences.

Once the years turned from the ’80s to the ’90s and finally the 2000s, Prince would release many other pieces before his recent death on April 21, 2016. Some of those albums include: Diamonds and PearlsThe Gold Experience, and Musicology. All of these carried Prince’s unique flair for music and still continued to win the hearts of people all over the world.

And now with the passing of Prince, many of his albums and other merchandise sales have shot up as fans around the world scramble to grab just a little piece of history before it is gone.

Sadly, before the music Icon passed away, he was about to release his First Memoir called The Beautiful Ones. It is unknown whether or not this will be released but until then fans will have time to mourn over the passing of such a legendary icon who will never be forgotten in the hearts of people all over the world for years to come.
