Fun facts about spring

Spring is here! So are some fun facts about this terrific time of year.

  1. A study found that, at least in the Colorado Rocky Mountain region, spring starts about three weeks earlier than it did in the 1970s.
  2. The first spring flowers are, most of the time, lilacs, irises, lilies, tulips, daffodils, and dandelions.
  3. Despite the fact that some people don’t like to feed birds in spring during spring migration, a feeder could be a good source of food for traveling birds.
  4. For the Japanese, the opening of the cherry blossom in March or April signals the start of spring.
  5. In the Southern Hemisphere, spring lasts from August through November
  6. Children actually grow faster in the spring than during other times of the year!
