Did you know that Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii? Probably. However, you may not be aware that putting up billboards in the “Aloha State” is actually banned! This rule is pretty unique, and it really makes you wonder: Does every state have a crazy law or maybe even a strange state animal/insect that most folks wouldn’t expect? The answer is yes, and now, here they are–50 crazy facts about the 50 states…

  1. Alabama: In Lee County, Alabama, it is illegal to sell peanuts on a Wednesday night after the sun has gone down.
  2.  Alaska: The state flag of Alaska was designed in 1927 by a 13-year-old boy, Benny Benson, who had won the state’s flag design contest.
  3. Arizona: In Arizona, it’s illegal for a donkey to sleep in a bathtub.
  4. Arkansas: A person from Arkansas can be called an Arkansan.
  5. California: In San Jose, California, it is banned for grocery stores to give their shoppers plastic bags.
  6. Colorado: Dove Creek, Colorado is known as the Pinto Bean Capital of the World.
  7. Connecticut: The state insect of Connecticut is the praying mantis.
  8. Delaware: There are only three counties in Delaware (the least in the U.S.): New Castle, Kent, and Sussex.
