Taylor Swift releases 1989

On Monday, Oct. 27, Taylor Swift showed the world that she’s still the queen.

After a year and a half of writing, producing, and perfecting, her new album, 1989, was finally released and practically broke the music world. Within 24 hours of the release, 1989 sold 600,000 copies and is on track to sell over one million within its first week.

Over the past few weeks, Swift has released a few songs from the album on iTunes and each went to number one instantly. In fact, in Canada, a short clip of white noise was accidentally put on iTunes and shot to the top of the charts before being taken down. The next single released for radio use will be “Blank Space” on November 10.

Each copy of the album comes along with a pack of Polaroid photos accompanied with lyrics. Not each album contains the same photos, but each contains the chance to meet Taylor Swift. Once you purchase the album, all you have to do is enter a code on Swift’s website to enter.

Since its release, many celebrities have raved about the album including Selena Gomez, Lorde, Ed Sheeran, and Hayley Williams of Paramore.

Actress Abigail Breslin excitedly tweeted, “THE NEW @taylorswift13 ALBUM MAY BE MADE COMPLETELY OUT OF ANGEL WINGS I’M SO OBSESSED.”

Swift announced during her Yahoo live-stream that 1989 would be purely pop, and that she would be completely straying away from country music for the first time in her career.

The most captivating thing about the release of 1989 is the appreciation Taylor Swift shows to her fans for their loyalty. Months before 1989′s release, Swift began holding small parties at her various homes called the 1989 Secret Sessions. At the Secret Sessions, Swift would invite dedicated fans to eat, take pictures, and listen to the new album before anybody else. Additionally, since 1989‘s release, Swift has retweeted and posted innumerable amounts of pictures of fans who bought the album.

A BuzzFeed poll shows that the fan favorites on 1989 are “Blank Space”, “Shake It Off”, and “Style.”

Taylor Swift keeps getting bigger, and if you’re on the list of people who dislike her, give 1989 a chance and it might just change your mind.
