A song with a much sadder meaning than most soothing song Sundays, “Little Girl Blue” has a much deeper and sorrowful tone.

Although the song is not an original, Joplin takes the gold for the best cover of it out of 42 overall artists. Her rearrangement of the lyrics seem to flow perfectly together. This song is something any teenage girl can count on when feeling down.

If one has seen the 2015 documentary on Joplin, they will realize what this song probably meant to her.

Her words are genuine and this song is not just something to make money off of.

Her struggles through life are something most can relate to, and she wants the listener to take comfort in that. All they need to do is get through whatever rough time they’re going through, and everything will be fine in the end.

So when you’re feeling down on a Sunday, just sit back, play this song, and count your fingers.
