Album of the Week: To the Stars

Album: To the Stars

Artist: Tom DeLonge

Release Date: April 21, 2015

The pop punk world was shook up when Tom DeLonge announced his departure from Blink 182, but now he has a solo album to leave an impression with.

After leaving the band, DeLonge said that he wouldn’t mind releasing demos intended for the band. He then formally announced the album’s release in February, and expressed that he wants to release four albums in 2015.

The demos, odds and ends show much of Blink 182’s sound.

DeLonge’s unmistakable vocals grace every track, but there isn’t much else to say about the album.

It lacks originality, and what the eight tracks deliver are just broken pieces of projects DeLonge used to be a part of.

If I were to put these facts behind, I would be able to say that the atmosphere the album creates is a classic pop punk tone, and a few of the tracks are a must.

Among these, you should give the songs “An Endless Summer” and “The Invisible Parade” a listen.

With everything in mind, I’d have to give this album a 3 out of 5 stars. The music is good, but it’s just scraps from a band DeLonge used to call his own.
