Top 5 songs that once made you cringe

There’s always those songs that are lurking on the radio, everywhere you go, but only for a certain amount of time. Here, we take you down a path of radio songs that made us cringe at the time, yet turn out to be pretty great songs currently.

5. “Let Me Love You” by Ne-Yo
This song hit charts in 2012. Although it was forgotten in merely months after being played over and over on the radio, the song continues to have a great melody along with piano chords that make you want to get up and dance.

4. “Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)” by Lana Del Rey
This may be one of the most overplayed songs of early 2014. Every single station would play it no matter what day of the week or time of the day. Many hated the song about three weeks into its popularity, but radios refused to stop playing the song. Now, going back and listening to it, the song is pretty good and definitely something I would listen to in my spare time.

3. “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift

A lot of teenage girls hated this song because of the rumored inspiration. After the music video released and the male character had an uncanny resemblance to Harry Styles (the ship tattoo), lots started to loathe it more. It was on every radio, mainly because of Swift’s cool dubstep chorus, but not many enjoyed in being there. Listening to the song now in early 2015, it’s easier to really get into and truly enjoy.

2. “Thinkin’ Bout You” by Frank Ocean

I’m not sure if this song even got all that much hate, but it’s phenomenal. All of last year, I had constantly skipped the song on my iPod, but just a few months ago I let it slide. Doing this, it brought back amazing choruses and verses that I never thought I’d enjoy even more than I used to. It may be Frank Ocean’s most popular song, and some may try to stay away from it because of that, but it’s really something to listen to and not take for granted.

1. “The A-Team” by Ed Sheeran

Listen. This song rocks. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a song being played on the radio as much as The A-Team, and admittedly, that turned me away from it for a while. Once I clicked on it, though, and started to really listen to it, I immediately became more intrigued. It’s a great song to listen to when you’re feeling down and just want to be calmed, but it’s also a great song to belt out in the car with your friends. It deserves much more love than the hate that it receives, hands down.
