For the past 25 years, Mr. Bellini has captivated English students at BPHS with his teaching style and passion for education. Currently, he teaches Honors English 9 & 11. He is also the sponsor of the new E-Sports team
His favorite part of being a teacher is that every day is a new, different experience.
Mr. Bellini’s interest in education stems from his experience working as a counselor at the YMCA during his teenage years, after attending it throughout his entire childhood.
He explains, “Later, volunteering morphed into me teaching, but I never appreciated how much that prepared me for my future.”
If he had not become a teacher, he would have likely worked as a park ranger, given his love for nature and the environment.
Outside of school, travelling around the world is one of Mr. Bellini’s main hobbies. He has visited 82 countries! Experiencing places that most people are hesitant or scared to visit is a passion of his.
New Zealand has been the most beautiful country in terms of scenery, he says. As for his next travel plans, Paraguay, Madagascar, Indonesia, and Georgia are at the top of the list.
On early commutes to work on the Light Rail, eclectic folk rock is Mr. Bellini’s choice of music. Mellow tunes are his preference because, for him, the world is already loud enough.
Another part of his morning is his usual coffee order, a plain espresso from a small coffee shop.
If Mr. Bellini could choose any famous person to have dinner with, he would sit down with a comedian. He enjoys being around people who can find humor in many things, like Bill Burr or Steven Colbert.
Three adjectives that describe him as a person are “passionate, adventurous, and imaginative.”
Finally, he has several words of advice for Bethel Park students.
“Get out and do stuff. Be involved with other things outside of just social media or technology; don’t just spend your life on your phone,” he encourages.
Thank you, Mr. Bellini, for all that you do!
