Annabella Laffey has only been a BPHS student for a month, but she is already making an impact. Named a student of the month this September, her work ethic and dedication to her school community are clear.
When asked to describe high school so far, Annabella chose the word “freeing.” She finds that there are so many opportunities and experiences available to her at Bethel Park.
So far, she is involved in Best Buddies, Homecoming Committee, DECA, and Newspaper Club. Annabella also participates in student government, having been elected a Freshman senator. One of her favorite parts of the week is after-school club meetings.
Her participation in so many extracurriculars is an extension of her experience in middle school, as she had many leadership roles in years past.
Annabella describes herself as “Extroverted, caring, and thoughtful.”
Honors American History 1 is her favorite class of the school day.
“Mr. Pierson always makes the class so engaging!” she says.
Outside of school, you can find her studying, drawing, hanging out with friends, or listening to music.
Annabella is a big fan of a wide variety of music, but if she had to choose, her top three artists would be Daniel Caesar, Frank Ocean, and SZA.
A person who has and continues to inspire her is Mrs. Foster, her NJHS advisor, with whom she formed a close friendship in middle school.
Her biggest aspirations for the future are to graduate as valedictorian and receive a full-ride scholarship to an Ivy League university. Her current plans for this school year are to continue to work hard and help others.
Annabella concludes, “I hope to see how I can grow, not only academically, but as a person too.”
